Friday Five, y'all!

I know I know, I haven't posted pictures in a while. I have to convert my RAW files and I don't have the ability to do so at the moment. I do have some JPEGs to share from a class I took - but it was a Microsoft Access class and the pictures were a favor to the instructor and my friend, David Diskin. I could share those? Maybe later.

But right now, it's time for the Friday Five! Thank you booshay.blogspot.com! All the blanks have already been filled in with my answers in italics. Copy and paste it into the comments and give me your answers!

1. It's time for MY ANNIVERSARY!!

2. Stockton, it's not a bad place for good food.

3. I must be TIRED, MY EYES ARE BLURRY.

4. LOVE is the best thing I have ever known.

5. My ATTENTION SPAN is simply NON EXISTANT.

(and apparently it's Friday 6 this week)

6. The last time I laughed really loudly was THE OTHER NIGHT, THE DOG DID SOMETHING HILARIOUS - CAN'T REMEMBER WHAT IT WAS.

Have a wonderful Friday all! I should have some pictures this weekend, I think I might ask the hubby to take some headshots for my website :-)

Loss for words

If you know me at all, and the few of you who read this probably do, I am not usually at a loss for words. I usually have an opinion or at least a comment on just about everything. As I begin the process of starting my photography business and getting all my ducks in a row, I find myself out of answers. I still have my opinion on everything from the death of Michael Jackson to where Michael Vick should play (totally coincidence that they are both named Michael, they were the first two things that I thought of), however I'm just out of good answers. I'm tired and grumpy a lot of the time. I'm always researching and looking for ways to improve my business that has not even begun yet. One of my biggest concerns is my new business blog that is in the making. Although I'm debating whether I should get a fancy-schmancy one right off the bat or use a very plain and basic template, this is not my main concern.

My main concern is topics!! I love posting my photography and giving the story about how I came about to know the people in the photographs, but I need topics that will help people get to know me in between the posts with pictures (obviously I won't be taking pictures every day but once the business is up and rolling my goal is to post every single day for the first year at least). Should I post pictures of me taking pictures of other people? Should I post the goofy pictures of my friends and I dressing up and going to a concert? Should I post pictures of my awesome yet totally unphotogenic dog (he's all black people, it's hard to get shadows and contrast out of solid black)? What?? I need ideas. If you didn't know me, what would you want to know about me as a person or as a photographer? Even if you DO know me, what would you want to know that maybe you've always wondered about? In your own business, especially a business with art, you are really selling yourself as well as your art and I want people to book me not only for my photography but for my sense of humor or my red hair (just a few examples people, don't get too excited).

So go ahead, comment to your heart's content! Please help me get my business going!

Material Girl

I don't know when it happened. I do recall my freshman college roommate hating me for being able to wake up in the morning, brush my hair, and head off to class. Meanwhile, she had been up for an hour and a half showering (I showered at night), curling her hair (I straightened mine every other day but it only took me a half hour), and doing her makeup (I didn't wear any until sophomore year of college). Anyway, it appears that I have turned to the dark side. It still doesn't take me that long to get ready in the morning, but the evening is ridiculous.

I've got:

1. Clinique acne system (all three steps)
2. Hand lotion (Aveno)
3. Toothpaste (and not just any toothpaste, it has to be for "sensitive" teeth)
4. Shampoo and Conditioner (I currently have Pantene Pro V, Herbal Essences, Dove, Nexus, and some fancy stuff I got from my hair dresser in the shower stall)
5. Morning I have my vitamin, but it has to be chewable because I'm not taking those huge horse pills
6. I started using an anti-aging moisturizer so I use Clinique's Super Defense :-)

The rest of it is pretty self explanatory... I'm just amazed at how high maintenance my hygiene has become!

My favorite day of the year

I'm not one for words today so I'm going to leave this post just pictures. These are from my beloved Fourth of July Block Party back home. I haven't been in several years and the hubby has never gone before... ever.

I love Kevin's shoes!!
