Darn you, Monique

I now have "Danger Zone" stuck in my head. THANKS.

Can you get the boys to reinact for me too? I think that'd be hilarious.

You people know me too well...

I have to come up with a THIRD fact about me in one week? Yikes, you people know me too well (all two of you). So here it goes, bet you didn't know this one!

I've never had a broken bone or a stitch. Ever.

Well I guess I had a few stitches after oral surgery, but they were the disintegrating kind.

I'm lame

Apparently Dougie knew my fun fact. How about this one?

You might not know that I played the flute for 5 years and could probably still play, but I also learned to play the keyboard, the saxophone, the drums (snare and base), and the clarinet. I always wanted to learn to play the violin but we didn't have a string section in the band other than guitar.

Something you might not know about me

I don't know why I thought this would be fun, but I thought I might start posting "something you might not know about me" posts every once in a while. I'll try to do it every Sunday, but it will depend on how many things I can come up with. Cool? Cool.

You might not know that I collect paper and pens. It's a sickness really, we have to have a dedicated office just to store all my paper and pens. I'm trying to single-handedly trying to save the dying art of letter writing.

I have pictures from men's volleyball and women's tennis to post, that will come in a bit! Sneak peek:

I need your comments

Hi all! The more I dive into the possibility of a side photography business, the more I realize I need a place to showcase it properly and maybe drum up more business (practice, practice practice!). In doing so, I want to start building a website that will be photo friendly and will enable me to show off my pictures in my blog a little bigger. Let's face it, size matters when it comes to photography and you can't get the real feeling of my pictures with the little thumbnails I can post here.

Although I consider myself a creative person, I have too many ideas to figure out how I want my site to look. I don't have a logo. I don't have a color scheme. I don't know what to put in my "about me" section - though I do have some ideas. This is where you come in. I need your ideas! Please spread this around to people who may know me so they can help me figure this out. I first and foremost need a logo, maybe the art department on campus can help me out with that. It kills me that we have professionals on campus that aren't getting credit or practice buy creating these things for people like me.

So help me out! Tell me what you think of when you think of me. Do you see colors? Do you see a pattern? I tend to like simple designs, probably because I'm such a confusing/complicated person (and not in a good way), but I want to know what you think. Thanks in advance!

Models

I could not ask for better models this weekend. First I had the baseball team in camo uniforms, and then I had my coworker Deb and her daughter Brianna. They were a blast! I had so many favorites from the day, but I think these were the best :-) Thank you for a great day girls!!

Thank you ladies, I hope we can do this again soon!

Salute to the Troops

Our baseball team is rocking my world this year. One of the many things that I like is the Salute the Troops games. Every home Sunday game, the boys will be sporting brand new camo uniforms to pay tribute to past and present soldiers. This last Sunday was the first game and I could not have been prouder of them. A friend of mine, Christine Fischer, has two boys who are both in the military and she is also a Pacific Athletics employee, so they could not have found a better person to throw out the ceremonial first pitch :-) After that, our boys continued to rock their opponent, Houston, which only made this special game better. Here are some of my favorites.
Did I mention that these pictures might get sent to our troops overseas? And one of my pictures might run in the Stockton Record newspaper tomorrow? I'll have to snatch one of the papers tomorrow just in case (I won't get photo credit, the media department will, but I was the only photographer at the game!).
I took a picture of one of our other pitchers a few weeks ago, Tye Davis, that was really similar to this picture, and he uses it as his Facebook profile picture!!! I was so excited to hear that. I've met his dad while out taking pictures, I almost feel like I need to send him a few of his best shots (from me, of course). Here's this last Sunday's starter, Hunter Carnevale.

This is Mark McCain. I am going to start calling him the ringleader because he has been directing the boys in a series of chants from the dugout, and they make me laugh every time. I got to catch them in action this last weekend.

Not sure what the claw is about, but it is one of their chants. I love it boys, keep it up!!

New house!

So last night was our first night in the new house!! It is completely overwhelming but so exciting at the same time. Charlie was boarded until yesterday after work so I picked him up and drove him to the new house. He hadn't seen it yet, and he has never been around stairs so we knew he was in for a big surprise! He was asleep for most of the drive, so I knew he had played hard with the other dogs. He perked up when he noticed that I didn't get off at my usual exit (how do they know these things???) and was jumpy the rest of the way. We got into the new house and he immediately went on a sniffing spree! All over the house. He got up the stairs just fine the first time (he loves to climb, so it's perfect for him) but when we went downstairs he sort of stared at us like he didn't know what to do. He practically scooted on his butt all the way down the stairs to keep from falling. After all the up and down we did yesterday, I know he's got to be a little sore today. He was a good boy once he calmed down, hopefully he realizes this is his home too. He freaked out a little bit when we put him in his crate to run a quick errand but he quickly realized we weren't going to leave him there forever!

Wow, I wanted to write a post about our first night in our new house and all I can talk about is the dog. That's just me I guess!

We have most of our stuff in the new house now, but it is all still in boxes. Tonight the goal is to unpack clothes and kitchen stuff, I think that'll get rid of a lot of the boxes in the living room right now. We can't really unpack everything for the living room itself though, painters come on Monday and we have to either move everything out of the first floor or we have to put it all in the center so they can cover it with a tarp. Either way it doesn't make sense to pack that stuff just yet, plus it saves us some unpacking this weekend which is great. I am DEAD tired and unfortunately I had to work all week. The hubby is home unpacking as we speak, hopefully he'll give us a head start!

Everything is moving along! I'll have pictures once I get my home computer up and running.

Just for fun...

So today I was supposed to be in the new house cleaning until my hands are numb, but the bank is sitting on the very last piece of paper that needs to be signed before we get funding so here I am, blogging. Don't get me wrong, I actually really love blogging because I find it somewhat cathartic, but today I really really wanted to be in the new house.

But, I'm trying to make the most of it. Silver lining, right? It's a beautiful day and I have the day off from work so I decided to take some pictures. I actually drove up to take pictures of the new house and the area around it because it was so pretty outside (and there is waterfront property and a park right next to our house) but once I got there I felt silly and drove back. Charlie really wanted to play outside so I went out there with him and found the beautiful butterfly you see above. I actually have no idea what kind of butterfly it is as my knowledge ends at Monarch, but I think it was beautiful and my 70-300mm lens gave me some awesome bokeh :-)

I'll be at the baseball game later, hopefully I'll get some great pictures there to share with you tomorrow. GO TIGERS!

Bad Day

Today was supposed to be a happy, productive day. I was supposed to wake up easily, get to work early, race through every major project I made for myself, have a great dinner with Matt and go to bed with a smile on my face. Granted, all of that can still happen, but today has been very rough. I felt like everyone I talked to either talked back to me or snapped. I have been argued with, questioned, and talked down to by just about everyone at work. I think I handled myself pretty well, and not EVERYONE was talking down to me, but the number was certainly higher than normal. And today of all days was not the one to make me feel worse than I already did. I hurt all over and I'm falling asleep - let's just say I'm not getting any employee-of-the-day awards!

On top of that we haven't heard anything about the house. I emailed to ask for an update, but basically the bank rep has to sign one more piece of paper that says we own the home and they're lagging. Their heels are definitely dug into the dirt and not moving. I have taken the next two days off to clean the new house and it'll be a little difficult to do that without keys! We are painting and moving this weekend no matter what so I pray they don't push us back any further.

On the bright side, the sun has come out and made everything shiny (since it's still so wet outside). There is a chance of thunderstorms tonight but it is Pizza night (and part of the proceeds go to the music fraternity on campus) and we get to have dessert with Glen which is always a joy - I will really miss him when he moves away next month.

I have no pictures, I'm sorry! I'm trying to get my hands on a new camera and some subjects to practice on, but the house comes first right now. I hope to post some pictures of us painting and cleaning! Some before and after shots of the landscaping could be cool too. We'll have lots of help this weekend - a big thank you to all of you in advance!!

I WON! and lost...AND WON AGAIN

I honestly don't think I watch too many reality shows, but I have gotten hooked on this season's The Bachelor. I used to watch it back home with Natalie but stopped watching sometime around Andrew Firestone's season. I was tired of the catty girls, the gossip, the backstabbing, and the boys who were only after one thing. I am and always have been a relationship girl and I believe people can find love in all kinds of ways, and this show is one of them. Of course, only one couple has truly lasted, but that's one more than most people thought would stay together!

Anyway, back to this season. The guy is a real sweethearted single father of a two-year-old boy. He was runner up on the Bachelorette in season 4 (I believe) when Deanna was the bachelorette. He's had a lot of hurt in his life and honestly he ended up with a great group of women to get to know. I've loved Melissa from the start. I was hesitant at first because she's so bubbly but I could easily see myself being friends with her (is that weird?). Molly was a different story. I saw Jason falling for her early on and it got more passionate as time went on. I didn't particularly care for her, but I wasn't the one choosing so I went with it :-)

Matt and I decided to take sides, though I cheated a little. I determined that I WANTED Melissa to win, but that I thought Molly would win because of his early and growing connection with her. See how I did that? If he chooses Melissa, I win because I liked her better. If Molly is chosen, I win also because I thought all along that he would choose her. I'm awesome like that :-) Matt chose Melissa, while I took Molly's side. The stakes were household chores (I'm just as boring as a married person as I was when I was single!), if I win then Matt has to paint the downstairs bathroom in the new house :-) If Matt wins, I have laundry duty for two weeks. The thing is, I don't mind painting and I don't mind laundry - but ever since we got a new washer/dryer set I haven't learned what all the settings are! I'm used to maybe three options, but this thing is a full pilots deck or something!

Anyway, looks like The Bachelor has chosen the one that I we both think is best :-) I'm so happy, even though I have laundry duty for the next two weeks! Do you think cleaning the new house from floor to ceiling alone will be a fair trade???

ETA: Apparently I won for real :-(

Moving Day!

Yes, I'm such a slacker... I'm so sorry! My main distraction lately has been our new house. We haven't closed escrow yet, but we are hoping that it will happen this coming Wednesday at the very latest. I can't tell you how anxious we are to get the keys, get into the house and start cleaning/painting! We have gone over lots of paint samples, arranged for people to help us move and paint, now all we need are the keys!

Matt and I were feeling a little icky today, though we got a lot of packing done and we are in really good shape to move! I promise to take lots of pictures, I'll probably have enough to make a whole album! Speaking of pictures, I did take pictures at the tennis match this weekend, though I am picking out my favorites and they're not quite done yet, I hope to get those to you soon!

Not many things to report. I am hoping to get my new camera sooner rather than later (my hopes almost became real when we found out how much money we have to front for closing costs on the house and how much money we will get back after filing our taxes and getting into the house), so that is rather exciting for me. I'm hoping that will push me into taking pictures more often, I really do feel happiest when I have a camera in my hands (other than being around my hubby, that is). I just hope I can get more of that in my life before I drive myself crazy!

Until next time...
